RANTT: Lies, lies, lies.

If we can’t call a lie, a lie, we’re all fucked

This one’s pretty easy, guys. We need objective truth tellers in The White House. Crowd sizes and MLK busts (okay that one is true) are one thing, but what’s going to happen when we don’t have photographic evidence to verify their claims?

How is this government thing supposed to work if the folks in charge refuse to operate honestly and transparently? How will this country know what’s true if our President continues to attack the media by obfuscating the facts? How will we know when our interests are being subverted for his own personal gain? I have more questions than answers right now but I’m worried about the state of our democracy and I think more of us should be too. The warning signs are screaming out at us.

Sarah Kendzior, an expert on authoritarianism, has been sounding the alarm for MONTHS:

If this all sounds dark and scary to you, that’s because it is pretty dark and scary. We are in dark and scary times. Our government is in the hands of an unpredictable, narcissistic, alternative-fact telling conspiracy theorist and his merry band of sycophants. They’re going to do whatever they want, clearly. This isn’t normal. We need to keep repeating that to each other.

THIS isn’t normal:

THIS isn’t normal:

THIS isn’t normal.

If this all seems Orwellian, it’s because it’s starting to feel that way. We must fight for the truth at all times. We must call a lie, a lie. Our democracy cannot afford the consequences.
